Sundowners, and braai

We came back the the Redt Camp and had sundowners on the deck.

What a magical time sitting there overlooking the Sabie River, watching the sun set. As the wide open African sky changes color you hear hippos grunt down in the river. A bird’s evening song gets carried through the clear air and a feeling of calm descends over everybody.

Once it got dark we went to our rondawel and for dinner we had a braai. A ‘braai’ is the african version of a BBQ, but uniquely South African.

Before bed we sat out on a bench overlooking the river and just listened to all the night sounds and watched the stars. More stars than one can imagine.
