Dungarvan

We did an impromptu stop at the little seaside town of Dungarvan. We explored the castle and then the town.

Very off the beaten track. Could not even find it in any of our guide books.

Cobh

The tiny town of Cobh on an island just south of Cork was the last place the Titanic stopped before it left for New York. This town clinging to a hill with an amazing Gothic Cathedral on top was steeped in history.

Rock of Cashel

The Rock of Cashel was the traditional seat of the kings of Munster for several hundred years prior to the Norman invasion. In 1101, the King of Munster, Muirchertach Ua Briain donated his fortress on the Rock to the Church. The picturesque complex has a character of its own and is one of the most remarkable collections of Celtic art and medieval architecture to be found anywhere in Europe. Few remnants of the early structures survive; the majority of buildings on the current site date from the 12th and 13th centuries.

The Rock of Cashel was a breathtaking site. Definitely a high point so far!

Cashel

Meet this charming owner of a tea shop in Cashel. She was so sweet and the shop looked like it has been there for decades.

Charmed.

English Market in Cork

Had a late lunch at the English Market. An amazing restaurant upstairs that all the travel programs we watched prior to the trip recommended. It was well worth it. I even got to meet the owner and told her she is famous in America on the Travel Channel.

The Romance of the Stone

We went to Blarney Castle expecting not a lot and having no intention to kiss the stone. However, soon after arriving were were so charmed by the beauty of it all that we ended up there kissing the stone after all.

Now we will have the gift of eloquence?

Blarney Estate

We spent quite a long time exploring the estate. Even did a tour of the house which was interesting since it is still in use. So tours can only happen for a short time every day, and no photos. The estate is stunningly beautiful with a lot to see and do.
