We had a great lunch at the Pier Head restaurant in a small town called Kinvara. Another picturesque harbour town on the bay of Galway.
This guy came rowing across the bay in this small little row boat. As he got out we realised that it was a picture of him that was on the one wall in the restaurant. I ran over and asked for a picture. After rowing for all that distance, he got on his bicycle and left.
I went back to the restaurant and they told us that he came to town about 50 years ago and goes fishing every day except Sundays. He has never missed a day, has never taken vacation and does it regardless of weather. They have even seen him go out in storms.
Wow.
We went out to celebrate Jerome’s 50th birthday. The real reason why we were in Ireland!

This is the library in Trinity College in Dublin. We saw this right after the Book of Kells. It is one of three great libraries in the world.
Johnnie Fox’s Pub is the highest pub in Ireland. The whole birthday group took this giant bus up these small narrow and steep roads, but it was all worth it. The Hooley is a giant feast with traditional Irish music as well as Irish dancers. It was a fun crazy wonderful evening.
Christ Church in Dublin dates from around 1028 and is one of the finest medieval buildings. A beautiful church.
