He abdicated on May 12, 1797, following Napoleon Bonaparte&#8217;s invasion, which brought an end to the thousand-year-old Republic of Venice.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We did go up the tower to survey his domain, and for the spectacular views of Venice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/travel.monkeydads.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/images-posts\/1070-too-hip-to-be-square.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1070\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Teatro Venizia is now a grocery store.
