For dinner, we went out and shared sardines and the famous Porto dish called ‘Francesinha’
Not sure how to describe it, but it surely is a lot. Usually three kinds of meat on a sandwich, covered in cheese and with an egg on top. All of it swimming in a red beer sauce. With fries, of course!!

It is a beautiful morning for a walk to go and explore Vila Nova de Gaia on the other side of the river.
Along the way we had a light breakfast of espresso and Pastel de Nata.

We made it in time for our 10:30am Port Wine Tour and Tasting at Graham’s.
Even though it sounds hard to believe, we learned even more about making Port and this region. And our tour guide Caroline was so sweet (and nervous).
And of course had to buy some, not exactly thinking that we had to walk back about 3 miles with 5 bottles of port. Mostly uphill.

Since everything is always uphill, we took the easy way out and rode the cable car. Great fun and stunning views of the city from the air.
We found this glass cube on top of the cliff with a breathtaking view.
Stopped for our favorite new refresher: Porto Tonic. Had lunch a light lunch as well and just relaxed watching the city. This must be so pretty at sunset.
We went even further up to get the highest view of Porto from across the Duoro River.

We had an amazing dinner at a Michelin star restaurant.
We walked by it every day since it is across the alley from our front door.
A tiny place, and they tell you when you make the reservations that it is a wood fire grill, so all your clothes will smell like smoke.
Who cares… THE FOOD WAS STUNNING!!
We look at this tower every single morning, afternoon and night. So on our last night here we decided to brave the nearly two hundred stone steps to get up there and look back at our place.
The views around sunset is well worth the effort.
Porto is a beautiful city in summer and this was like a gentle kiss good night and good bye. We’ll see you again…

Now leaving Sao Bento station and heading to the train station on the outskirts of the city to get on the high-speed train to Lisbon.
