Bamberg

The town of Bamberg has been inscribed on the World Heritage List concerning the protection of the world cultural and natural heritage in 1993.

Bamberg is an outstanding and representative example of an early medieval town in central Germany, both in its plan as well as its many well preseved ecclesiastical and secular buildings.

During its period of greatest prosperity, from the 12th century onwards, the architecture of Bamberg strongly influenced nothern Germany and Hungary.

In the late 18th century the town was the center of the Enlightment in southern Germany.

Rose Garden

This is the Rose Garden at the New Residence of the bishop. This is not the old residence (now part of the church) or the current residence (further up the street). The building also now houses a museum.
